In the Old Testament the word to bless is BARUCH which means to strengthen. If you are blessed you have been strengthened. What’s encapsulated in this word is to be energized, strengthened and kept.

When Jesus speaks he tells us what He is doing for us and not what we are on our own strength. As sinners we tend to think of ourselves as independent from God and as possessing or being something of value God is trying His best to win for Himself.

When Jesus speaks He knows perfectly well He’s brought everything into being. Not just the universe that appeared all at once but even the events, people and their accomplishments appearing through time as the unfolding of the petals on a rose. To Him belongs not only the making of the seed but the growth and the fruit of the tree. He knows what’s been made by him can only be energized, strengthen and kept solely by Him.

Imagine if you are the sole Maker of all the appliances, vehicles and gadgets men have created. Imagine you possessed in yourself the power to energized them and all you have to do is speak to them and they will be energized to operate and delivered their instill benefit.

What you would say would be something similar to what Christ said to us in the Blessed-dudes or what is commonly known as the beatitudes.

Be energized, strengthen and kept ye washers and dishwashers because you can take all the dirt thrown at you and give cleanliness in return.

Be energized, strengthen and kept ye trailers and trucks because you can take people’s burdens and loads and drive them far away from them and for them.

Be energized, strengthen and kept ye microwaves, tea, coffee and cappuccino machines for you managed to take every cold treat men give unto you and end up warming it to make it palatable once again.

Be energized, strengthen and kept ye DVDs, VCRs, TVs and video games because you are forced to play hours on end and yet you entertained and bring joy to those that relentlessly use and abuse you.

Be energized, strengthen and kept ye phones, cell phones and walkie talkies because you have to bear with all manner of bad breath and in so doing you allow people to peacefully communicate with each other without having to give bad breath to themselves.
