REVIVALS

Revival, as the word indicates is a renewed interest and concerned of the soul to be eager and anxious to please her Maker. While it is always God who prepares the man(i.e. the laborer) the bible tells us that at any given time, there is a harvest of souls ready to be plucked out of the Enemy’s domain. Many churches pray to God to give them souls for them to win for the kingdom and many despair when there is no growth. Some even get together for fasting and prayer hoping for God to bless them with more saved souls.

We think we have the laborers needed to do the task of winning the souls. We have plenty of schools and seminaries and we produce many reverends and doctors of theology. We, therefore, tend to rest upon our accomplishments. But God says, what we lack, no matter how many schools and graduates we can generate, is laborers whom He has prepared.

The Harvest of souls belong to God. The field of Souls is His. Therefore just like a land owner hires, equips and sends his workers to gather his harvest from the field. God also does the same. We need to do what Jesus said. We need to ask the Owner and Lord of The field to send laborers into the field. Only God tears down and builds up again. Time after time He destroyed the pride of Israel when their hearts and minds wondered away from Him and time after time, He prepared his prophets to bring them back to Him.

Praying for a harvest of souls is nothing but rebellion clothed in religiosity. God specifically told us to pray for Him to send laborers. Prayer is the most common way in which churches depart from serving the living God. We come to regard the task of prayer to be so sacred that just gathering to do it, makes us feel devoted to God and better than those members who don’t pray or attend the prayer meetings. The activity can easily become the means by which we can convince ourselves to be well pleasing to God.

If prayer is considered to be a petition, a request, a supplication, a longing, or even a way of commanding God to act upon His promises, then the Bible is God’s PRAYER to us. In the scriptures God admonishes, requests, petitions, longs, pleads, beseeches and commands His people to walk in His ways. IT IS ONLY WHAT GOD WANTS THAT MATTERS!!!

When we are revived, we are filled with the Spirit and understanding of God. And we are empowered to do BY-THROUGH and FOR God what we been wanting Him to do BY-THROUGH and FOR us. When we are revived our souls are complete and whole in God. We no longer have any concerns for ourselves therefore our hearts and minds are free and ready, at that point, to show the world, with what we say and do, what God is like.

When a woman or a man, therefore, is eager to follow the requests, petitions and commands set forth by God in the Bible, We can rest assured that woman or that man has been made able to answer God’s prayers and it wont be long before the revival of that woman or that man will be felt by all.
