BEWARE OF BLINDING MIRACLES

by Zecharias E. Castro

Part One

John 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

If you wish to use this message for Sunday School or a Bible class the best way to do it is to start the session by having your students write in the back of the paper where you have printed this lesson or the outline of it, have your students write 3 to 5 things they would be afraid of losing. It could be their physical health, their sanity, their wife, their husband, their family, their business, their car, their home, their reputation or any thing else they can think of. And then have them write 3 or 5 things that they would be immensely happy to have won or have obtain. Again it could be good health, their sanity, money, a wife, a husband etc, etc.

Have them share with the rest of the class what they wrote and then you can proceed with the lesson.

The easiest way to test what you love, cherish or appreciate is by looking at what you would be afraid of losing and happy to win. God made our soul with a heart, mind and will so that we would understand and execute His thoughts, feelings and choices within the surrounding vicinity where He placed us.

If we are in tune with God and know that we were made for Him and not for ourselves. Our greatest fear would be to lose His thoughts, feelings and choices and our greatest and most immense joy would be to have them so that we can keep them flowing out of us, to touch the world before us.

Any thing that would deter you or hinder you from having God’s TFC(i.e. thoughts, feelings and choices) should be regarded as a stumbling block in your walk with THE WORD(i.e. The Lord), and should immediately be discarded or altogether avoided.

This week, on Thursday to be specific, my wife, my 2 children(boys 14 and 5) and my self went to Sam’s. When we got home there was a message in the answering machine. A male voice with a spanish accent was saying that he found my cell phone that is attached to my wallet with all my documents and papers. I hadn’t had time to figure out that I had lost my wallet much less to worry about it. In any event I called the guy and we made an appointment to meet by Sears on Friday morning. He gave me back my belongings and since he was an unemployed construction worker I offered to build him a website.

Two days later, Saturday night, at 10:30pm, we were leaving a quinceañera(a spanish version of a sweet sixteen birthday party) when I noticed that I did not have my cell phone with the attached wallet. I retraced my steps and gave my personal info to the host of the party and went home. Upon arriving at home I told my wife if there is a lesson to be learned from this is the following: If God wants us to have something in the physical realm He will give it to us without having to be thinking and worrying about it and if He doesn’t want to give it to us, then all the thinking and worrying that we can come up with would be useless. Therefore we chosed not to worry about it, we thanked God that we have what really matters which is His Spirit in our hearts and minds and we went to sleep. At 12:30am that same night we received a phone call from the host of the party saying that they had found my cell phone with the attached wallet and offered even to bring it home to me on Monday morning.

I call worry an idol made of time pockets. Worry is Satan’s version of meditating. We use our minds and hearts to think and concern ourselves with what God knows perfectly well whether is necessary or not for us to have for the promotion of His glorious Name. Worrying therefore only gets us to mistrust God.
